Lol. It was based on a test I did on the test dummies in Stormwind. I just wanted to see how bad it was judging light and how fast i'd run out of mana, but I was expecting to run out of mana asap. I was judging light in mostly a PVP situation (works outstandingly well in PvE as well except on high aoe damage bosses like Hex Lord in ZA) since you want to counterbalance the damage dealt from Seal of the Martyr / Blood. It really works fine, I just hope that its not a bug, since my glyph thats supposed to extend the life of my greater blessing of might doesnt work, both the blessing and the greater blessing buff for 30 minutes >_>.
Oh and the bleed effect is live, but it expires way early for some reason.. it has like 1 tick and disappears instead of 4 (1 every 2 seconds) so I think something may be amiss.

You guys, its not that bad! I did some tooling around, and guess what, seal of the martyr + judgement of light = win. I havent been below 50% mana over a 3-5 minute button mashing spree. Just dont use consecration and you're fine.

Something you guys may want to test out in pvp / arena would be a Seal of Light / Judgement of wisdom combo. No you dont get the proc chance from SoC or the damage bonus from SoM/SoB, BUT you do get a very good return mechanic of healing and mana. So instead of getting procs of damage, you're getting 4-600 in health returned to you. From my arena / pvp tests, it worked very well in survivability fights. It feels a lot more like the original ret spec before the nerfs just - the extra damage.

-NightKnight
Vek'nilash

It cetainly looks that way Chrom.

It would appear that one way or another SoComm does too much damage so they're making Martyr seem more atrractive to Alliance paladins who havent been stacking haste gear (like me)

Oh yeah, I managed a sustained 1100 dps in a heroic mechanar run yesterday, even with the mana / SoC hotfix. My gear is T4/T5 quality. Only difference is I have to drink every other pull, even with judging wisdom.

Just want to make certain you understand why you are not seeing a problem with mana on the Live servers. There are a few things on live which skew the numbers.

1. Judgement of Wisdom is bugged. Multiple judgements will stack for additive affect.

2. The nerfs to Judgement of Wisdom outside of the bug fix (which is waiting for 3.0.3 now) will cut in half the proc rate and cut in half the mana returned per proc. That means, you will see 25% of the mana returned from Judgement of Wisdom procs by the time these changes are live. Since Judgement of Wisdom is the largest source of mana return for Paladins (by quite a large amount) these changes will have the biggest impact on mana in a raid.

3. Paladin gear on the live server, especially those with T6, had a lot of INT on it. This means that the Replenishment affect is returning more mana at 70 than it will at 80, since this affect is based on the mana pool. The closer to base mana your current mana pool is, the less benefit Replenishment provides. By level 80, there will be zero mana on our gear so you will get the least benefit possible from this affect.

Yeah, I'm just waiting on a mage, feral druid, shaman nerf :P.

Either way, we'll definitely be pushed into using martyr though because of its buff back up to 95% damage rather than its current state of 60%. We'll be seeing nice 4k crits off of that SoB lol. Expect to see your health spike down every once in a while though XD. Basically blizz is making us easier to kill in battlegrounds by pushing us to use a higher damage seal that in turn does damage to ourselves. BUT.. just remember, every 5 minutes, you can annihilate people :). In full reality, they are giving us a tweak where they think we should be using our talents (Seal of the Martyr + Judgement of the wise / wisdom) making us vulnerable in pvp by less self healing, but are giving us a reason to blow down our opponents through a stun still. If you really take the time to think it over, the changes to our talents arent that bad. Its just pushing us to a different build than the cookie cutter ret build we see today. That bleed effect = win Imho. Sure we lose that bonus critical damage, but that makes up over time with the stacking effect of this new ability. If we continue to crit over and over again, that dot will increase in damage over 8 seconds and refresh, which will be HUGE during longer boss fights.

Bleh, don't even bother speccing into Seal of Command anymore, since the nerf AND because SoB/SotM was slightly better to begin with AND because we get mana back when the healers heal our self-damage... Seal of the Martyr is the top choice for raids. PvP-wise, idk if I'm a fool, but I always use SotM there, too.

I know what you mean about everybody else doing so much DPS - I hardly think its fair that WE get nerfs when, for example, I'm doing 2300 DPS, and the boomkin is doing 3500 DPS O.O
